The Parent Project
The Parent Project is a free, 10-week course, designed for parents and caregivers with adolescents who display challenging behaviors. Offered in English (at Carlmont) and Spanish, the classes teach both prevention and intervention strategies that focus on the following areas:
• Dealing with unhealthy and/or dangerous behaviors in teens
• Strengthening family relationships
Participants gain access to resources and other support systems available in their communities and also practice effective parenting skills that include:
• Developing an appropriate family structure
• Preventing or ceasing the use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco
• Enhancing communication skills
• Improving grades and school attendance
El Proyecto de Padres es un curso gratuito de 10 semanas, diseñado para padres de familia y personas encargadas de la formación de adolescentes que muestran comportamientos desafiantes. El curso se ofrece inglés y español, las clases enseñan estrategias de prevención e intervención que se centran en las siguientes áreas:
- Comportamientos no saludables y / o peligrosos en los adolescentes
- Fortalecimiento de las conexiones familiares
Los participantes obtienen acceso a recursos y otros sistemas de apoyo disponibles en sus comunidades, y también practican habilidades eficaces de crianza que incluyen:
- Desarrollar una estructura familiar adecuada.
- Mejora de las habilidades de comunicación.
- Mejora de calificaciones y asistencia escolar
- Prevenir o dejar el uso de alcohol, drogas y tabaco.
