"The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress administration includes the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments; the California Alternate Assessments (CAAs), including the CAA for Science; and the California Science Tests (CASTs). The optional primary language test, the Standards-based Tests in Spanish (STS) for Reading/Language Arts (RLA)."
Smarter Balance Assessment Consortium (SBAC)
"New state standards are challenging students to understand subject matter more deeply, think more critically, and apply their learning to the real world. To measure these new state standards, educators from Smarter Balanced states worked together to develop new, high-quality assessments in English and math for grades 3-8 and high school. These Smarter Balanced assessments provide more accurate and meaningful information about what students are learning by adapting to each student's ability, giving teachers and parents better information to help students succeed in school and after." ELPAC
English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC)
"State and federal law require that local educational agencies administer a state test of English language proficiency (ELP) to eligible students in kindergarten through grade twelve. The California Department of Education (CDE) has transitioning from the CELDT to the ELPAC as the state ELP assessment. The ELPAC is aligned with the 2012 California English Language Development Standards. It will be comprised of two separate ELP assessments: one for the initial identification of students as English learners (ELs), and a second for the annual summative assessment to measure a student's progress in learning English and to identify the student's level of ELP."

"The International Baccalaureate® (IB) offers a continuum of international education. The programmes encourage both personal and academic achievement, challenging students to excel in their studies and in their personal development. In order to teach IB programmes, schools must be authorized. Every school authorized to offer IB programmes is known as an IB World School."

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
"The PFT for students in California schools is the FITNESSGRAM®. The main goal of the test is to help students in starting life-long habits of regular physical activity.
Students in grades five, seven, and nine take the fitness test. The test has six parts that show a level of fitness that offer a degree of defense against diseases that come from inactivity. The test results can be used by students, teachers, and parents."

The SAT also features an optional essay component, which some colleges will require. Questions throughout the assessments focus on skills that matter most for college readiness and success, according to the latest research."
