Dr. Selassie is a seasoned equity professional and accomplished leader with a proven track record of driving systemic change. His extensive experience in higher education, federal, District, and local government, and nonprofit sectors positions him to elevate SUHSD's commitment to creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive learning environment and workplace for students and employees.

 

In his new role, Dr. Selassie will spearhead strategic initiatives benefiting all students and employees – regardless of race, culture, sexual orientation, parental educational levels or economic background –  so that they feel welcomed, safe, supported and have opportunities to succeed at their highest level of ability. He will foster an accessible culture of belonging, empower staff, and advance opportunities for professional and organizational growth.

 

Prior to joining SUHSD, Dr. Selassie successfully held five other inaugral positions. His academic background and consulting experience have equipped him with the knowledge and skills to address complex challenges and drive meaningful change. Dr. Selassie's ability to build strong relationships and galvanize staff will undoubtedly make a significant impact on SUHSD.
